Meet a fairly new rescue group, Part of the Pack Rescue! This is their first time joining us for Spring Fling, read on and stop by their tent to find out more about them!

“The mission of Part of the Pack Rescue is to reduce the number of homeless, abused, and abandoned animals and improve their quality of life by providing medical care, placing adoptable pets in our community into forever homes, and educating the public in proper animal care and responsible pet ownership.”

Meet one of their adoptable dogs, Axel.

I know, my photo is adorable, RIGHT? My name is Axel and I am about to WOW you with my awesome skills! I can zoom so fast, but my foster mom says I can't do that in the house. Whatever....tell me you're a boring mom, without telling me you're a boring mom. You may be wondering how I ended up in this situation? My previous mom had me since I was 8 weeks old, but she got really sick last year. She couldn't physically take care of me anymore, so she did what was best for me and found a foster home. I am great for a first time dog owner because I'm great with adults, children, and other dogs. I am always down for a hike or walk around the town. I can definitely show you all these awesome skills and more when you take me home with you! My foster mom had me DNA tested and I'm 33.6% American Pit Bull Terrier, 16.4% American Staffordshire Terrier, 15.2% German Shorthaired Pointer, 11.5% Collie, 8.8% Border Collie, 8.7% German Shepherd Dog, and 5.8% Rottweiler. What does that all mean? I'm SMART and love to learn new things and stay active.

Keep up with them and their adoptable dogs on their Facebook page.

The Goathouse Refuge is located in Pittsboro, NC and is a completely no-kill sanctuary for cats. Any cat is welcome there, regardless of age, behavioral concerns, or medical concerns.

“The Goathouse Refuge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill animal sanctuary dedicated to providing cage-free care for cats regardless of age, medical issues or disposition until a permanent loving adoptive home can be found.”

They also understand that not every cat will be happy living as a pet in a person’s home, so for some of their cats who have unique situations, such as growing up as a feral cat, The Goathouse is their permanent shelter and a place to call their own. For founder, Siglinda Scarpa, the philosophy is, “every cat has the right to a life free from both danger and indifference.” Everything The Goathouse does ties back to this philosophy and produces amazing results for so many cats in need!

Here is one of their adoptable cats, a handsome guy named Bob.

"Bob is a handsome tabby cat with an equally handsome coat- soft grey and brown tabby tones mixed together give Bob a truly unique appearance. With his big, lovable cheeks and easy-going disposition, it's honestly hard not to fall in love with Bob! We just know that special someone is out there for Bob. Come meet him soon and see if you might be the one he's been hoping to find."

The Animal Protection Society of Durham is one unique group! We don’t have another organization quite like them joining us for Spring Fling. What makes them so different? Well they are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that also manages the Durham County Animal Shelter, a wonderful blend of animal rescue and government services. Even though they have the extra aspect of a county shelter, they still rely on donations, both financial and supplies, to provide the best care possible for the animals there. They don’t just work with dogs and cats either, you may find small animals like guinea pigs or hamsters there sometimes too!

“APS relies on donations from caring individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 4,000 stray, surrendered, abandoned, abused and neglected animals we care for each year.”

Here is one of their adoptable cats, a sweet senior named Jodie.

“Oh hi, let me come out and introduce myself. I’m Jodie and I’m 9 years (young) and looking for a new start. Please remember age is just a number~! I have lots of kitten-y ways about me, tho no longer have my kitten shape. (could use a little help with that) 😽 Come meet me, so I can show you how much prettiness I have all over me~!”

You can keep up with APS of Durham on their website, linked above, or on their social media channels, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
