Charley's K9 Rescue is there for dogs who need them most!

Charley's K-9 Rescue, located in Butner, North Carolina, is a non-profit veteran-founded organization that provides assistance to North Carolina high kill shelters and community pet owners. Charley’s provides lots of training for their dogs, working hard to make sure they become the best companions they can be. Their work extends to adopters, providing support for all manner of home situations or bumps in the road with a new family member.

“Here at Charley’s K9 Rescue, it is our mission to give dogs a second chance at being recognized as a loving and important part of the family. We place our focus on overlooked, bully breeds, and behavioral dogs (bite cases, high anxiety, fear aggression, etc.) during their last hours at the shelter or those surrendered by concerned owners who believe our vision.”

“8 yr old Tupac is looking for his home to live out his golden years! Tupac wants to be an only dog. He takes time to warm up to you but is a very sweet old man. Tupac is house trained and can be left out without making a mess. He is toy and treat motivated. Tupac enjoys his loose leash walks and also enjoys showing off his cool tricks. Tupac knows sit, come, wait, off, shake, and down.”

Dachshund lovers won't want to miss Doxie by Proxy Rescue!

Doxie by Proxy Rescue is a completely volunteer run, foster based rescue group. They accept dachshunds from shelters and from owners who can no longer care for them. When possible, they do what they can to help owners who are considering the surrender of their pet, in order to keep more dachshunds in loving homes and out of the rescue system. They focus on the North Carolina area and require that adopters travel to the state to complete adoptions, though they do prefer local adoptions so that they can provide support in the future if needed.

“Doxie By Proxy Rescue, Inc. began in January 2019 out of a passion for both rescue and the dachshund breed. The rescuers involved with this organization have over 50 years rescue experience collectively — and work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dachshunds and dachshund mixes in North Carolina.”

Here is one of their adoptable dachshunds, Cherry.

“Here are some highlights about Cherry -- she LOVES to go on walks (like she would really prefer if you like to go on hikes with her because "adventure" is her middle name). She walks really well on a leash and can be very loving when she feels safe and on her terms. Because Cherry's allergies were left untreated for so long before coming into our rescue, she is extremely sensitive about her back being touched (if you saw the pictures of her condition at that time, you would understand). Cherry wants to be loved and has not always been so sensitive about her back -- so we expect as her condition continues to improve, her sensitivity to her back being touched will improve too. Cherry needs some work on housetraining and will require a home willing to work on those skills as she settles in -- she will potty outside but doesn't exactly know how to tell you that she needs to go but she is more than willing to show you that older dogs can learn new tricks! Because of Cherry's sensitivity to her back area and her tendency to be snappy about it, we are asking that she only go to homes without children. Cherry is fine with other dogs but prefers a quiet home as she is well beyond her years of puppy play. She is great company for someone who might be lonely and seeking a reason to get out and exercise. She will cheer you on as you accomplish all of your exercising goals!”

Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary: saving animals in the Triangle

Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary is a group that should be familiar to our Stonehenge customers, they are one of the rescues who have their adoptable cats stay in the Cat Shack there! They work with both dogs and cats in need in the Triangle and are currently working on the creation of their sanctuary location in Chapel Hill.

“Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit that rescues at-risk animals from shelters or inhumane conditions and works to find them loving homes.

As part of our Beautiful Together mission, we also create programs for children in crisis, connecting the vulnerable and the voiceless in purposeful ways that benefit us all.”

"My name is Clifford. I am a big, beautiful Russian Blue cat. I am absolutely sure that I have descended from Kings.

I am incredibly interesting in that what I might do really depends on my mood - and possibly the position of the stars in the sky on that particular evening? I don't know. I can make these decisions rather spontaneously. But, for the most part, the snuggly part happens the most when you just sit on the couch and relax. That is when I am most drawn to you. Relaxed, taking-it-easy people are my most favorite kind of people, and I often reward them the most."
